Jan “Superjj102” Janssen wins the first for 2018: US$ 25,000 Gwent Open tournament and takes $10,100 and 20 crown points home! Adzikov breaks his curse and enters the semifinals for the first time, becomes second.
The GWENT Open tournament #3 is finally over and its winner is Complexity’s Jan “Superjj102” Janssen from Germany. He also took home the $10,100 check and the fat 20 Crown Points, or CP for short. He seemed to be in a peak player condition and managed to deliver some record-breaking quarterfinal games against his fellow countryman – Benjamin “Kolemoen” Pfannstielwhich. In the semifinals, he faced Raffael “GameKingAT” Iciren from Austria, who gave him a tough fight, but Jenssen managed to overcome and win with 3 – 1. His Finals opponent Adzikov also gave him a real challenge. They finished 3 – 1.
The 2nd place was won by Andrzej “Adzikov” Bal from Poland. Adzikov took $4,300 plus the 15 CP who belongs to the #2. Both Adzikov and Superjj102 get a spot at the next GWENT Challenger tournament. But the prize was not the only one thing that he managed to get. The Polish player also broke the curse that was following him throughout the series so far – the inability of reaching the semifinals.
Third became the winner of the first Open of the Gwent Master Series – Elias “Shaggy” Sagmeister, and this time he is not the wild card! He took home the $3,200 and 10 CP. And Fourth is Raffael “GameKingAT” Iciren from Austria, he takes home the 10 CP and $2,350.
Nikolay “Cmel” Sakharov from Russia, he finished 8th and brought home $ 1,000. He left the tournament in the quarterfinals after losing to Shaggy with 3 – 0. Seventh was Zehua “Huyahanachann“ Zhao from China, he exited the tournament after he lost with 1 – 3 to Adzikov. He won only $1,250. Evgeny “eiSloth” Androsik from Belarus was also part of the group that left the tournament. He finished sixth after he lost to GameKingAT with 3 – 2. The number five is Benjamin “Kolemoen” Pfannstiel from Germany. His dreams for advancing further into the tournament were killed by the winner Superjj102. Both eiSloth and Kolemoen receive $1,400 each.
GWENT Masters Series
The GWENT Open tournament is a part of the GWENT Masters series and is considered to be their entry level event. In it the top 8 players with the most CP from the previous Pro Ladder Season, which lasts 2 months. There are 8 Opens each series and the next one will be in March. All of them have a prize pool of US$ 25,000. Another important part of the series are the Challenger tournaments. There are 4 of them, and they take place every 2 Pro Ladder series. Next one will be this April and will be the 2nd one of the series. The Gwent Masters will be played January Next year. The first 2 Open winners are Elias “Shaggy” Sagmeister and Frederick “Freddybabes” Bird, who also won the first GWENT Challenger.
