Pyke has been having a hard time on the Rift with low win rates and misuse.
Pyke looks cool and is seemingly fun to play with. As an assassin with fair base damage, he is actually one of the more unique champions League has produced. Looking at his kit, players may confuse him as a tank support (because of his hook). To clear the clouds, he is actually an assassin-support. Weird right? It is probably one of the reasons why Pyke is suffering because players use him as a tank support when actually, he is not. Of course, everyone has their own way of doing things but Pyke isn’t made for that. Just like what is stated earlier, he is one of League’s unique champions.
Ever since he came out on the Rift, Pyke has been suffering with a low 42% winrate, but mainly because players are still figuring out how to play him efficiently. Some say players are struggling with him because a lot of supports do not know how to play as an assassin and vice versa. Stereotype? Yes, but it does have a point. To win a game with Pyke, being lucky isn’t enough. You have to master it in order to tear the enemy’s bot lane.
What to do with him now?
Overall, summoners are still in the process of figuring out how he can work well with other champions. Properly setting up Runes, a good execution of skills, plus a lot of practice and dedication is always the key.
He is indeed one of the champions who are tough to balance.
The devs actually buffed up his stats while shield supports were nerfed, hoping to help Pyke fit into the meta. He is definitely one of the worthier champs to study because what’s scarier than having an enemy assassin support? Getting torn up in the bot lane is the last thing you’d wish as an ADC.
