Tencent revealed that the closed will take place over two weeks, from June 28th to July 12th. All the participants will get an exclusive skin for Krixi. The new beta will receive some updated content. Tencent has made some graphical and UI changes to the game based on player feedback.
The development team told Variety, “We’re aiming to incorporate the infrastructure from the existing mobile version to ensure a smooth and enjoyable gameplay experience for both new players and the extremely experienced MOBA veterans. We’re carefully curating and selecting the right heroes and game modes for Switch. We want to build it as an independent ecosystem that best fulfills the needs of a community of ’Arena of Valor’ players on Switch, and will continue to evolve and grow the ecosystem based on community feedback.”
Esports finally comes to Switch?
This among the first esports games to come to Switch, if you count Fortnite as well. But unlike Fortnite, Arena of Valor already has held several esports championships, including the Arena of Valor World Cup. It is also the biggest esports game on mobile. Bringing it to Switch might finallt open up a path for Nintendo to be a part of the esports world. “‘Arena of Valor’ has already proven itself to be one of the most competitive esports games in the world, so we have the opportunity to cultivate a competitive esports ecosystem on Switch, if that’s where the population is gravitating toward,” the team told Variety.
