Kenji Kuroda has been arrested for allegedly molesting a high school girl.
A few days ago this weekend, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike player Kenji Kuroda was arrested for allegedly molesting a high school girl in Japan. According to ANN news, the 32 year old approached the girl into his home. The say that he allegedly started hugging her and committed “obscene acts” or “sexual molestation”.
The incident was reported to the police by the girl’s mother. Police say that they were meeting for the first time and had found each other through Twitter.
His arrest also caused quite a lot of confusion among the fans. When he was arrested, Kenji Kuroda was said to be unemployed by the Japanese media. It wasn’t mentioned that he was a Street Fighter Pro, nor was it reported that Kuroda used to write for Weekly Playboy, a Japanese men’s publication. Weekly Playboy has since removed Kuroda’s posts. This made people disbelieve that it was the same Kenji Kuroda. Part of it was due to the fact that his name was written in Kanji, while Kuroda used to write his phonetically.
Kuroda is also starring in an upcoming indie movie, 9road. It is backed by a fellow fighting game player, Daigo Umehara. After the news broke, the movie’s official Twitter account issued an apology.
Kuroda is said to be unbeatable in Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, and is widely regarded as one of the best players of the game. He is known for his skills on Q, which is said to be the game’s worst character. Yet he is a multi Tougeki winner. His skills in 3rd Strike are so well known that he has sold his gameplay DVDs with the whole cast.
