Chat Wheels, Ranked Roles and Tipping will come back in the Dota Plus End of Summer update.
When Dota Plus came out, many thought that it would replace the Battle Pass, though it nearly did not have enough content. But Valve did release a Battle Pass for TI8 and added some new content. Even though the Pass was disappointing, to say the least, some of its features like Ranked Roles matchmaking and the Chat Lines were well received. The chat wheels were spammed by the pros during the TI8, so was offensive tipping, whenever an opponent dies or made a mistake. Owing to the immense popular demand of these features, Valve has decided to add them in the Dota Plus End of Summer update.
The chat wheel though will only have some generic sounds and not the caster lines. For now, the available sounds are:
- Party horn
- Drum roll
- Bock bock
- Sad trombone
Ranked Roles was perhaps the best feature of the TI8 Battle Pass. Especially if like me, you play on the SEA server where everyone wants to pick a carry. For those not aware, a player can select the role he would want to play in a team (mid, safe lane, offlane, support) from the drop-down menu. They will then be put in a team with players who have selected different roles. This actually made ranked games much friendlier and a lot less frustrating, and it is back with Dota Plus End of Summer update. I recommend that if not for anything else, you buy the Plus subscription for this one amazing feature.
Other than that, the new update will also have tipping. But this time, you will tip is shards rather than BP points.
The prices will remain the same, starting at $3.99 a month and going up to $41.99 for a yearly subscription.
